How many flips must a candidate flop
Before the voters know to run?
Yes, ‘n how many John Hagees and Reverend Wrights
Before the voters stop having fun?
Yes, ‘n how many times must a candidate pander, either to the left or the right
Before the rot has begun?
The answer, my friend, is votin’ third party,
The answer is votin’ a third party.
How many rights must the president take away
Before congress gets off its knees?
Yes, n’ how many tears must the constitution cry
Before big business is pleased?
Yes, n’ how many times must the citizens sigh
Before with a vote they do the deed?
The answer, my friend, is votin’ third party,
The answer is votin’ a third party.
How high must gasoline rise
Before the parties compromise?
Yes, n’ how many billions must politicians spend
Before democracy dies?
Yes, n’ how many times must our government fail
Before we send them to jail?
The answer, my friend, is votin’ third party,
The answer is votin’ a third party.

Hey, I like your poetry. I'm not always a big fan of third parties, but sometimes they work, if the candidate is good. A wasted vote isn't good, but a protest vote isn't a waste, is it? And every now and again a third party candidate does win!
By the way, you are welcome to link to my page, and I would like to return the honor.
Thank you,

Once again, I have been drawn to your work. It's great stuff. I'd like to add you to my blogroll, with your permission, of course. Your commentary is consistent, I believe, with the goals of the Institute for Applied Common Sense. Let me know.

Looking forward to cross-linking with your blog. I'll add you to my blogroll right now. Should be interesting. If we can just get a few more people to think outside of the box that is framed for us.

I am seriously considering NOT voting this year. I never thought I would feel like that but The Lesser of Two Evils is not running this year.
While I enjoy your poetry I question if a third party is really the answer. In Canada we have three and it really had not changed social injustice. Do you really believe that you can change the system from within when it is already so corrupt?
Interesting lyrics. Politics is always a touchy subject I think for many. From the looks of the lyrics, this could probably double as a poem and a Rap. :)

I should have mentioned that this should be sung to "Blowin in the wind" by Bob Dylan. Covers done by The Hollies, Dolly Parton, John Fogerty, Elvis Presely, Stevie Wonder, Peter Paul and Mary, etc.
Interesting writings and a great blog. Thank you for visiting my blog and the nice comment you left.
Bob Dylan would be proud! How about something to the tune of "Forever Young"? It's my favorite.
Love your blog... politics IS a touchy subject, but it should make for interesting comments, dontcha think?
Keep up the good work!
I do think a third party is part of the cure. The democrats and the republicans are too caught up in a them-versus-us mentality. I believe if we can replace 20 or 30 percent of them. We will have enough swing votes to force compromises.
Thirty or fourty years down the road, the third party will be part of the system and we will have another dead locked ineffective inefficient system. I would be happy to just get 10 years where congress and the president actually get something intelligent done.
I recommend anybody who is thinking about not voting because the don't like McCain or Obama to consider the likely 3rd party candidates. Nader and Barr are top of mind. Look for 3rd party candidates for local elections too. If a 3rd party candidate gets 5% of the vote this time, their party will qualify for federal support for the next election. That would prove to be a huge boon.
Found you on BC and wanted to comment. I loved this poem/song. I had a tune in my head with the words, but couldn't think of the song for my life. Anyhow, good job!

I agree with "Exposing The Players", what's the point in voting for no one?
This would not be a problem if Hillary had told the Dems to kiss her tail and run as an Independent, but the biggest of the bigwigs in politics in NY told her that if she didn't play nice, she would never hold any political office again. No joke! They intimidated her into supporting Obama. Bill now, that's another thing entirely. He may eventually play nice to save Hillary's political career, but it's well known that he does not like Obama, and never will.
I'm writing Hillary in.
I like your poetry ;) Refreshing viewpoint too. cg, wow I didn't even think of that notion if Hillary would have gone independent.. why didn't she? Hmm, and cup is half full, to answer your question, my picture ads are from a site called 'commission junction.' you make money off the purchase of the products from your site. My other one at the bottom is from Widget Bucks. =)

You poetry was funny, i dig it. Make sense. Perhaps 3rd parties are the future, too bad it is not now.
It is nice to read and happy to understand that you are a poet specialized in political subjects... keep writing...

Hey thanks for the comment on my blog but this is a genius work....Dylan would certainly love it...You used his classic "Blowin' In The Wind" song to say something absolutely true!!!! This is great...I love your blog too!!!!! : )
Interesting... third-party, indeed. Also a quiet fan of Dylan, so this resonated with me a bit. Keep up the good work.
Hi, I really love the way you convey your thoughts using poetry. I always think of doing so, but am unable to. You must be having some good talent at this.
